Shunsuke Tanaka

Metal is often thought of as "hard," but as someone who actually works with the material, I discover new things about it, such as its "soft" and "warm" qualities. When I hammer the material, it speaks to me every time the hammer hits it. I create my pieces with that feeling in mind, wanting to give them form just as they are.

2001: Completed Master's course at Tama Art University Graduate School of Fine Arts
2002: Opened a workshop in Kazo, Saitama Prefecture
2007: Moved the workshop to Gyoda, Saitama Prefecture
